USB Interface Connection for PC and KNX TP

The TP Interface to access KNX Bus Devices via USB

The KNX USB interface UIM‑KNX 42 establishes a bi-directional data connection between PC and KNX bus. The interface device enables addressing of every bus device in the KNX bus system. With the UIM-KNX 42 even network configurations become less time-consuming.

The USB connector is galvanically isolated from the KNX bus. Communication between the UIM‑KNX 42 and the devices connected to the bus is handled via the flexible common EMI protocol. This protocol is designed for actual and future applications. Standard software like ETS, EITT (and others) is handled by the FALCON driver.

The UIM‑KNX 42 supports long telegrams and ensures easy software handling also under operating systems that the FALCON driver doesn´t support (e.g. Linux). For specific diagnostic applications like EITT the UIM‑KNX 42 supports the "Raw Frame" operating mode. Due to HID profile support no specific USB driver is required.

Advantageous features

  • Access to every bus device of the KNX bus system for:
    • commissioning
    • addressing
    • setting parameters
    • visualization
    • protocolling
    • diagnostic operation
  • Enables a data connection between PC and KNX bus line without need for an extra application program
  • Galvanic isolated bi-directional access to KNX TP
  • USB 2.0 interface device with Type B connector
  • Support of long telegrams (max. 220 bytes APDU length)
  • Usage also without FALCON driver software
  • Use of cEMI ("Common EMI") protocol
  • Support of Raw Mode, a special diagnostic mode
  • HID profile support. No specific USB driver needed
  • Can be used with any ETS and EITT
  • Low current consumption
  • Database available for ETS4 and higher
  • Installation module for 35mm top-hat rails (DIN, TH35)
